Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a sleepy part of Montreal Island, which is known as West Island. It is a bit of a mystery as the West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar of its purpose. It is often believed that it is an island west of Montreal however it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities that are Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often mentioned, but her brief visit to the West Island was not. Brugel grew on Courtice close to Oshawa in Ontario. Her early ambition was to dance but an increase in her height led to her growing beyond the dancers she was with. In an article from the Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6 feet one inch. When I surpassed my male counterpart then I slowed down. Many ex-dancers switch to acting. In Brugel's case it was because of the advice of her drama teacher at her high school which pushed her to take the step she required. Teacher who recommended she try to find a role in the school's annual show. The student tried it out, and eventually got the lead in Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and graduated with the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Since then, she's appeared in over 60 productions both big and small. One of the most memorable was when she landed Rita's role on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel appeared only on rare moments in the very first season of The Handmaid's Tale. She was the only Canadian participant.
